Council Cabinet approves “ambitious and innovative” transport blueprint and draft Bus Services Improvement Plan

The Local Transport and Connectivity Plan sets out to achieve this by reducing the need to travel and discouraging unnecessary individual private vehicle use through making walking, cycling, public and shared transport the natural first choice.

The same day, the Cabinet also approved its draft Bus Services Improvement Plan (BSIP).

Of particular relevance to Headington is:

  • lower paid OUH staff to be given 75% and 50% discount on bus fares (see page 30)
  • removal of all parking bays along The Slade
  • wider shared pedestrian and cycle paths along The Slade (unclear if this means removal of the dividing line or this is official terminology for what’s already there)
  • re-design of the Horspath Driftway exit to help prevent queuing on that road (see pages 15 and 16)

The decisions relate to the documents that can be found under items 10 (Local Transport and Connectivity Plan (LTCP)) and 11 (Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP)) on the Agenda for the Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, 19 October 2021.
