Oxford to Cambridge expressway project cancelled
Construction of the Oxford to Cambridge expressway has been cancelled as analysis shows the benefits the road would deliver are outweighed by its costs.
On 18 March, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps announced the cancellation of the Oxford-Cambridge (Ox-Cam) expressway, after analysis confirmed the proposed project was not cost-effective.
This will come as a relief to people living along the proposed route and those concerned about the additional traffic burden this would put on our already congested cities and supporting a more sustainable approach to improving transport connections along the Oxford-Cambridge Arc, such as the East West Rail scheme.
